Allow us to introduce ourselves. We are First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley—but please just call us First Pres.
We have been worshipping here, on the corner of Dana and Channing Streets, since 1902. But our ministry here in Berkeley goes back even further, all the way to 1878.
Today we are a vibrant, welcoming community of more than 2,000 individuals and families. A member congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA), we are committed to a ministry of worship, service, pastoral care and spiritual growth.
We invite you to be part of it. Explore our website to learn more about our history, our mission and values, our people and our ministries. Then consider taking the next step:
Join us on Sunday. We are worshipping online as pandemic restrictions continue. We invite you to view our live service on Zoom at 10 am on Sunday, or view any of our recorded services on our YouTube channel.
Plan to visit us when in-person worship returns (which we hope will be soon!). First Pres offers a traditional service at 9 am, and a contemporary service at 11:15. In between (what we call Middle Hour), there are opportunities for learning and fellowship.
Start your journey. Whether you’re just getting to know First Pres, you’re ready to become more engaged here, or you’re thinking about becoming a member, Starting Point is for you. This seven-week conversational gathering will help you explore the many life-giving ways you can be part of our church family. Starting Point happens twice a year. Click here for the fall schedule!
Find Common Ground. If you are new to the Christian tradition, or you’re finding your way back to church, come meet fellow seekers as we look for Common Ground. This six-week gathering is the place to ask who God is, what Scripture has to say about life’s toughest questions, and how the church can help us find the answers. Click here for details, and put Common Ground on your fall calendar.
